According to a new report from Business Insider, former US President Donald Trump checks all of the boxes for “Doe 174”.
While Trump supporters rejoiced that the MAGA leader was barely mentioned in the newly released Jeffrey Epstein documents, a new report published by Business Insider claimed that the former US President checks all the boxes for “Doe 174.
Decoding Doe 174
The court documents identified Doe 174 as a person whose “association with Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell has been widely reported in the media already, and his or her name came up during Maxwell’s public criminal trial.”
This comes as thousands of pages of court records in an Epstein-related lawsuit were made public over the last week.
The records include the names of over 170 people who appeared in a court case involving Maxwell, his ex-girlfriend, who was found guilty of trafficking girls to him for sex, and one of his accusers, Virginia Giuffre.
The identities of nearly 170 Epstein associates, including his wealthy friends and victims, were kept hidden for a variety of reasons. They were designated as “J. Doe” during discussions about whether to reveal their identities or keep them hidden.
How Trump matches the characteristics of Doe 174
Trump appears to meet the criteria for Doe 174, having a long relationship with Epstein and saying “I wish her well” after Maxwell was indicted on sex trafficking charges, according to Business Insider.
It is unclear whether Trump fought to keep his name out of the records.
In a December order, US District Judge Loretta Preska stated that some Does did not fight to keep their identities hidden. Preska stated that Bill Clinton, known as Doe 36, had no objections to his name being made public.
However, she did not use the same language in her rulings for Doe 174; instead, she stated, “This material should be unsealed in full.”
Johanna Sjoberg, who has accused Epstein of rape and Prince Andrew of molesting her, provided two of the previously disclosed documents, known as Doe 174, according to the judge.
During her deposition, Sjoberg denied offering Trump massages at any of Epstein’s facilities. She also discussed flying in Epstein’s private plane to Atlantic City, where they visited one of Trump’s casinos.
Sjoberg stated in the deposition that “Jeffrey said, Great, we’ll call up Trump, and we’ll go to—I don’t recall the name of the casino, but—we’ll go to the casino.”
The court documents released on Wednesday revealed the names of several prominent people, including Trump, though he was barely mentioned and no reference was made to any illegal behavior on his part.
